Lemont Lacrosse Families
As you all know, Washington IL was devastated by the recent tornadoes. Tom Haggerty reached out to some of the lacrosse folks who are responsible for the annual CILAX Peoria Tournament. I can’t paraphrase the response any better so I cheated and cut and pasted part of this response:
“Your requests to help out the families of Washington have been overwhelming and heartfelt. The damage to the community has been unbelievable, but the community remains strong. We have lacrosse families that have lost their homes and all their possessions. Thank God they are safe. Many walked from the rubble of their homes without shoes. Most of the families were in the portion of Washington which was leveled. Monetary donations can be made to St. Patrick Church Tornado Relief Fund, postmarked 705 Jefferson, Washington, IL 61571. One hundred percent of these funds will go directly toward helping families in need in our community and our parish. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 309-339-8168 or my wife Christine at 309-339-0077. We are so blessed to have such wonderful lacrosse family around the area. We are so grateful for the generosity we have received. Otherwise the Red Cross (800-RED-CROSS) or Salvation Army (800-SAL-ARMY) is accepting donations.
I talked with Christine Serangeli who is the wife of Greg Serangeli. Christine told me that there are approximately 1,000 homes totally destroyed or damaged. If you are interested in helping, what the people in Washington IL need right now is financial support. Their St. Pats church website has the information.
